Bonjour and welcome back to this mini-series on handmade gifting. Today’s project is one of my favourites : making candles in vintage silver cups — a beautiful, timeless gift that can be enjoyed long after the candle has been burned. These make thoughtful presents for Christmas, birthdays, or as part of a curated gift bundle. And they’re much easier to make than you might think! This tutorial is part of my Handmade Gifting mini-series, with one gentle project every day this week. You can watch the full playlist here: • Handmade Gifts - mini-series Silver polishing video : • 28 - French Brocante Finds & Antique Silve... 🕊️ Materials Wax pellets for container candles Cotton wicks Fragrance oil of your choice Vintage silver cups or jam pots Glue (for securing the wick) Fabric & ribbon for wrapping 🕯️ Step-by-Step 1. Prepare the cups Polish your silver cups thoroughly. 2. Measure the wax Fill each cup twice with wax pellets to estimate the quantity needed. 3. Fix the wick Glue the metal base of the wick to the bottom of each cup. 4. Melt the wax Use a bain-marie (double boiler). Let the wax melt slowly, then remove from heat. 5. Add fragrance Stir in a small amount of fragrance oil. 6. Pour the candles Pour the scented wax into the cups, keeping wicks centered. Let set completely overnight. 7. Finish & wrap Trim wicks to 1 cm. Wrap each cup in a vintage handkerchief or tea towel and tie with a ribbon. ✨ A Handmade Gift That Lasts Once the candle has been enjoyed, the silver cup becomes a keepsake: perfect as a small vase, for cotton pads in the bathroom, or for sweets in the kitchen. 🌿 About this Series I’m sharing one handmade project every day this week — simple, warm, countryside-inspired gifts you can make with intention and love. ☕️ If you wish to show your support, you can buy me a coffee :) : https://buymeacoffee.com/frenchcountr...
