Even five hundred years after the Buddha’s passing, there will be those who uphold moral discipline and cultivate blessings and wisdom. When they hear these teachings, they will be able to give rise to pure faith. 1 You should know that such people have not planted roots of goodness with just one Buddha, or two Buddhas, or three, four, or five Buddhas. They have planted roots of goodness with countless Buddhas. When they hear even a single phrase of this sutra and give rise to a pure thought of faith, the Buddha will fully know and fully see them. Such people will gain immeasurable merit. Why is this? Because such people do not cling to the idea of a self, a person, a being, or a life. They do not cling to the idea of things, nor do they cling to the idea of no-things. 2 Why is this? If they clung to things, they would cling to a self, a person, a being, and a life. If they clung to no-things, they would also cling to a self, a person, a being, and a life. Therefore, one should not cling to things, nor cling to no-things.” ________________________________________ Verse 2 / 第二段 Chapter 7 Nothing Is Attained “Subhuti, what do you think? Has the Tathagata attained supreme awakening? Has the Tathagata taught any teaching?” Subhuti replied: Chorus / 副歌 “As I understand the Buddha’s meaning, there is no fixed teaching called supreme awakening, and there is no fixed teaching that the Tathagata can teach. Why is this? Because the teaching spoken by the Tathagata cannot be grasped and cannot be spoken. It is neither a thing nor a no-thing. Why is this? Because all sages are distinguished by the unconditioned.” ________________________________________ 副歌一 / Chorus 1 「当知是人, 不于一佛、二佛、三、四、五佛而种善根, 已于无量千万佛所,种诸善根。 ________________________________________ 副歌二 / Chorus 2 何以故? ________________________________________ 第二段 / Verse 2 第七品 无得无说 「须菩提,于意云何? 须菩提言: ________________________________________ 副歌 / Chorus 「如我解佛所说义, 无有定法,名阿耨多罗三藐三菩提; 亦无有定法,如来可说。 ________________________________________
