Edit Just to let you guys know, I have developed a free blender addon called the TextTool Addon. It has a few tools and one of them is the Typewriter effect. You just add some text and then press a button, the addon will do the rest of the work for you. Since this version of blender no longer has the typewriter add on I decided to use the build modifier. With a few adjustments the build modifier worked out just fine.
