This morning during the Palm Sunday liturgy, we sang one of my favorite Slovenian Holy Week songs, Oljska Gora.(Mount of Olives) The St Joseph Choir sounded so beautiful and did this song justice! What a reflective way to enter into the holiest week of the year. Here is a rough translation of the lyrics: The Mount of Olives is covered by a quiet night, the Cedron stream murmurs sadly, the pale moon behind the cloud hides, the star does not twinkle. Oh, why does the Mount of Olives mourn? Oh, why is the whole earth trembling? Oh, don't ask, just shed tears, with Jesus making the bloody path. His soul is grieved to death, his heart aches with grief. God's mouth begs for consolation, in terrible pain everything leaves him.
