L&M Winter Recital 2025 - Sebastian Erick Hurtado

Etude in C# Major No.1 "December" (Original composition) Liebestraum No. 3 by Franz Liszt Performed by Sebastian Erick Hurtado, student of Tad Winklarz. Sebastian has been studying piano and composition with me for the past three years—and remarkably, he is only 13 years old. He rushes home from school each day, eager to sit at the piano and bring his many creative ideas to life. The first piece presented here is an etude he titled "December." His ambitious goal is to compose one etude for each month of the year, each in a different key, ultimately completing a full circle of fifths. I am confident that his continued commitment will lead to further progress, and I look forward to seeing his development in the years ahead. Both compositions are technically demanding, and I truly feel for my students who must perform their pieces on an instrument they've had no opportunity to previously play on.
