Just before 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of an armed robbery at Foxy's Lottery Deli and Bar, located at 15224 SE McLoughlin Blvd. in the Oak Grove area of unincorporated Clackamas County. A man and woman, both wearing face masks, entered the business displaying what appeared to be a handgun. They gave a note to an employee demanding cash from the register, cigarettes, and the employee’s wallet before leaving in a large, maroon-colored pickup truck with only cash. As deputies were conducting the investigation, another deputy spotted the suspects’ pickup, a maroon 4-door Chevrolet Silverado in the City of Milwaukie. The deputy and officers from the Milwaukie Police Department attempted to stop the pickup which showed it had been reported stolen in Portland. The driver of the pickup did not stop and attempted to flee. Following a successful deployment of spike strips that punctured two of the pickup's tires, the truck was stopped as a deputy attempted a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver as it exited I-205 near SE Highway 212. The armed robbery suspects, Tara Marie Kornell, 47 of Vancouver, WA, and Louis Randulf Prendergast Jr., 44 of Portland, were arrested without further incident and lodged in the Clackamas County Jail. Kornell, the driver, is facing charges of Robbery in the Second Degree, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Attempt to Elude Police Officer, Theft in the Second Degree, and Reckless Driving. Bail is set at $500,000. Prendergast is facing charges of Robbery in the Second Degree, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Theft in the Second Degree, and Reckless Driving. Bail is set at $250,000. Deputies located a BB handgun in the vehicle and recovered the cash taken in the robbery. Another passenger in the vehicle was interviewed and released from the scene and is not facing charges.
