This week, a 76 year old woman fatally shot her dying husband inside Florida hospital and has been charged with murder. The woman and law enforcement remained in a standoff for over 4 hours, requiring emergency evacuation of Advent Health Hospital in Daytona, Florida. This brings to light once again the issues of lack of security in hospital systems, and also opens the door for conversation about lack of compassionate end of life care.
