#Delhicrime #Rohini #Vijayvihar #delhipolice #LPG A shocking case of LPG cylinder black marketing has come to light in Delhi’s Rohini district, creating a stir in the area. Due to ongoing international conflicts, rumours of a possible shortage of LPG cylinders in the country were spreading, and some people were trying to take advantage of the situation through illegal activities. However, the Vijay Vihar Police Station team of Rohini district acted swiftly and busted the illegal LPG refilling racket. The incident came to light on March 16, 2026, when the police arrested a man who was found illegally refilling LPG cylinders. The operation was carried out under the leadership of Inspector Manohar Lal, SHO of PS Vijay Vihar, while the action was supervised by ACP Atul Sood of Rohini Sub-Division. According to police, due to international conflicts involving several countries, rumours were circulating about a possible shortage of LPG cylinders in India. In view of these rumours, the Rohini district police had increased vigilance to prevent hoarding and black marketing of LPG cylinders. On March 12, 2026, a team from PS Vijay Vihar, consisting of SI Deepak, Head Constables Pradeep, Vikas and Narender, was conducting intensive checking in the area to curb illegal activities related to LPG cylinders. During this operation, the police received information about illegal gas refilling taking place in Phase-1, Vijay Vihar, Delhi. Acting on the information, the police team conducted a raid at the location. During the raid, they found a man transferring gas from domestic LPG cylinders into commercial cylinders using pipes and equipment. The police immediately apprehended him on the spot. The arrested accused has been identified as Pushpendra, a resident of Vijay Vihar, Delhi. During investigation, it was revealed that Pushpendra previously worked as a delivery boy with a gas agency in Sector-5, Rohini. While working there, he gained knowledge about LPG cylinder supply and refilling systems. Using this knowledge, he started the illegal business of transferring gas from domestic cylinders into commercial cylinders and selling them in the black market to earn illegal profits. During the raid, the police recovered a large quantity of equipment and cylinders from the spot. The team seized 02 filled commercial LPG cylinders and 15 filled domestic LPG cylinders. Apart from this, 04 weighing machines used for measuring gas cylinders, 04 refilling pipes and equipment used for transferring gas, and one Bajaj Discover motorcycle used by the accused for transporting the cylinders were also recovered. In this regard, FIR No. 136/2026 has been registered at PS Vijay Vihar under sections 125, 287 and 318 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. The accused has been arrested and further investigation is currently underway to identify whether more people are involved in the illegal LPG refilling network. Rohini District DCP Shashank Jaiswal (IPS) stated that strict action will be taken against anyone found involved in black marketing or illegal activities related to essential commodities like LPG cylinders. The police are now investigating the case further and trying to uncover whether a larger network is involved in this illegal gas refilling and black market operation.
