Gloucester To Bristol | Bird Strike At Bristol | Performance Landing

Full and unedited video of the return flight from Gloucester to Bristol, filmed during my Second Solo Landaway. This video includes all of the Pre-Flight checks. After departing Gloucester off Runway 27, I take up a southerly heading towards the Severn Estuary and "The Bends" in the river Severn, which is a fantastic visual aid when flying VFR! I revise some key basics, talking through procedures such as FREDA (Fuel, Radio, Engine, Direction, Altitude) and L-A-I (Lookout - Attitude - Instruments). I also focus on my Situational Awareness, talking regularly about my position and route in relation to the many glider sites around. I could have planned the descent into Bristol better as I had to quickly sideslip and descend a couple hundred feet in order to obey my clearance into Bristol Controlled Airspace. At Bristol I decide to go for a Performance Landing, aiming to touch down perfectly on the numbers. During the final approach to land I learn of a bird strike affecting another aircraft! I decided not to film the outbound leg in order to concentrate on the busy join at Gloucester. Qualifying Cross Country videos to follow!
