Lower body strength is an essential component of safely and successfully performing a wide range of activities from playing sports to hiking to riding a bike. It can also be helpful in terms of reducing the risk of falling. In this video, Shana and Tim demonstrate two jump rope moves that can significantly boost lower body strength, particularly for folks who are new to strength training. They are: 1) the high single and 2) the single leg jump. Do NOT attempt these moves before getting clearance from a medical professional if you have any orthopedic issues with your feet, ankles, knees, or hips. Of course there are many ways to strengthen the lower body and we are in no way suggesting that you abandon tried and true traditional strength training methods.
