For more New Mexico weather…check here on https://www.krqe.com/weather/video-fo.... To replay KRQE News 13’s on-air TV shows, check here on https://www.krqe.com/live-stream/. Morning Meteorologist Ryan DePhillips has a look at the weather ahead. Milder-than-average morning air is still once present with some clouds & some gusty winds for some mixing that air around, but dry surface air mostly remains despite a jet stream drop. Air temperatures in the north are starting off mostly from around the high 20s to the 40s, while elsewhere to the south, air temperatures are mostly ranging from the 30s to the 50s. Slightly milder air for most out to the southeast will be in store today because the westerly, warming component in the winds, but despite the cooldown elsewhere, way-above-normal high temperatures will once again be set. Areas from East New Mexico to the Pecos River Valley area will range from the upper 60s to even the low 90s from north to south from high to low elevation. Slightly gustier west-southwesterly winds than yesterday from aloft will go up, over, and down the southeast-sloped mountain faces, gusting up to at least 30-45 mph, leading to the very mild process at the surface in this area as a result. The northern higher elevations, which may have some sporadic rain and very high elevation snow, will range from the 40s to the 50s, while the northern valley floors to western and central areas will mostly range from the 60s to the lower 80s. Fire weather chances will be slightly higher today with the elevated to critical fire threat conditions in some local areas. The ridge of high pressure, also responsible for the warming process, is starting to break down as it's steering in some clouds with stronger west-southwesterly downsloping winds, with some patchy blowing dust and some reduced visibility occasionally as a result. Record to near-record high temperatures will still fall for some southeastern areas today with dry air and the gusty conditions occasionally. Backdoor cold-frontal winds from the northeast, one the tail-end of today's gusty day, will develop this evening into the overnight in East New Mexico, raising humidity while dropping temperatures a bit eventually by tomorrow morning. Mostly calmer winds tomorrow with the weak storm system to the north moving through to the northeast will allow for dry air to lead to a slight warmup in western areas, but the cool front will lead to noticeably cooler air tomorrow out east with a slight cooldown for most in the Rio Grande Valley. However, temperatures will still remain above average for most even with the even bigger cooldown ahead with pockets of higher humidity, accompanied by some precipitation eventually, in northern to eastern areas.
