During pregnancy some women may experience pelvic issues including: Pubic Symphysis Dysfunction. Some of the symptoms are: pain around the pubis, trouble walking, difficulty separating the legs. Pubic Symphysis happens when the bony portion of the pubis separates slightly from the cartilaginous joint. This separation can be very uncomfortable. This dysfunction may be caused by the presence of relaxin in the body during pregnancy, which makes all the joints and ligaments more supple. I’ve created a prenatal yoga practice to help stabilize the pelvis without aggravating the pubic symphysis dysfunction. If you are experiencing a flare up it may be best to rest for a few days before beginning this practice🌸. Postures are suitable for all trimesters. Modify as needed. A blanket, block and pillow are optional props for this class. Please consult your physician to assure exercise is appropriate for you at this time.
