SWEETWATER WETLANDS PARK: JANUARY & FEBRUARY 2024

We've had another mild Florida winter. This video shows some birds that I've filmed for the first time; the American White Pelican, the Northern Waterthrush (thanks to Stuart for pointing it out!) and the Yellow-Headed Blackbird which is not normally found in Florida. This is the first time I've actually seen one, but I knew they mixed in with the Brown-Headed Cowbirds from a YouTube video posted maybe a year ago by "Follow Thomas" at the nearby UF dairy farm. I wish I had more footage of the Bald Eagle vs Osprey aerial battle. I was late for the fight and it was hard to discern which bird to film in the confusion, where the fish was or even if there was a fish involved. The Eagles are very good at the art of the steal; kleptoparasitism is the word I've heard thrown around. Hopefully in the future, as I'm sure their paths will cross again, I'll try to capture more footage. Fingers crossed.
