If you would like to be on the grid at SRi, why not head to our official Discord? / discord Tonight marks the first round of the UKSimRacing (UKSR) GT3 League Season 17 as hosted on iRacing and brought to you by SimRacing International (SRi). We shall be bringing you all of the racing action which occurred on Sunday 11th January as if it were live! With last week’s pre-season event having set the stage, tonight we raise the curtain as our grid of 60 drivers commence their championship campaigns at the Sachsenring. Opened in its dedicated racing circuit guise in 1996, this 2.26 mile course is one of two halves which shall provide a tough test for our drivers. The first, a winding sequence of low speed corners which flow with the contours of the local terrain. The second, a fast-flowing collection of sweepers and short straights which are prime for overtakes. With only half our competitors attending the pre-season test at Adelaide last week, whilst we could not quite get a full gauge of who may be the pre-season favourites, some drivers have already made a name for themselves. In ELITE, the BetaFrost pair of Henrik Riise Strand and William Arnesen and Phoenix Racing Blue’s Hayden Miller all impressed in qualifying, although it was Miller in the end who steered clear of the walls to win the race. Meanwhile in PRO, Peter Cox showed upon his return to the grid that despite his extended break, his renown consistency has not left him as he converted a fourth place start to a runaway win. As for INTER, Robin Paunia’s apparent transition to the Mercedes AMG Evo seemed to have suited him as he secured both class pole position and the race win despite pressure from Daniel Pais and Alexander Vingmark. Who shall secure the first victories of the season in Germany? Tune in and find out! Our broadcast schedule for tonight is as follows (times in GMT/UTC): 2000 Broadcast Starts 2015 Qualifying (Final 15 minutes) 2035 Feature Race (60 minutes)
