Hi, I’m Jill, and welcome to American English. In the last lesson, we talked about what Americans say when they’re waiting or buying time. Now, let’s talk about what Americans say when they’re finished or done. When Americans are finished, they usually say something short. Listen first. I’m done. That’s it. Repeat after me. I’m done. That’s it. Very common. More natural ways Americans say this. Repeat after me. All done. I’m finished. That’s all. These sound normal. These sound American. At work. Listen. Did you finish the report? Yeah, I’m done. At the store. Listen. Anything else today? No, that’s it. Seeing someone you know. Listen. Are you ready to go? Yeah, all done. Repeat after me. I’m done. That’s it. All done. Repeat after me again. I’m finished. That’s all. I’m done. Important tip. In American English, short answers clearly show you’re finished. You don’t need to explain more unless someone asks. When you’re done, say it simply and move on. In the next lesson, we’ll talk about what Americans say when they’re leaving. I’ll see you next lesson.
