• Carb Tuning And Information This video is the next in our series in carburetor tuning, specifically Air Bleed tuning. I put a link to see the last video to review. That video was focused on location identification. This video is based more on the function, and effects of changes from a general perspective. We are going to do a series just on air bleeds, as they are so in-depth, and minute changes, make a huge difference. It was not until last 15-20 years that they have had carbs, with tunable/replaceable air bleeds. But it takes the knowledge to change and understand the change. If not you risk leaning out the engine, and destroying your hard work, let alone the safety factor involved. IMPORTANT I am learning this as you are, so stay tuned, and follow this series. For example John mentions, that changing/increasing the high speed air bleed by 0.001, can affect the main jet, requiring an increase in size of 2.1-2.3 jet sizes, or for us racers, Go up by a thou in high speed air bleed, go up 2 jet sizes, these are rough ratios. John has a program, that he developed, which is more accurate. I will make a short about that. So when you make the change, it not only changes the air fuel mixture, it delays the system. So if you mash the throttle to the floor, with a .022, versus an 0.024, the system would start flowing quicker through the booster, than with the 0.024. The lager air bleed, bleeds off more air, and looses draw to the entire system. As the entire system become bigger/ increased in orifice size of the bleed, high speed, intermediate, and idle, it makes it harder to pull fuel out of it. It lessens the draw out of the main well. Be cognitive of the change you make, make sure you write it down in your log book We also mention the twin blade carburetor, and DragBoss testing one out soon. We also get the quick history the developer of the twin blade carb, Mike Laws, of BLP, Bo Laws Performance. Mike is the son of Bo. We will bring Mike on for a live chat to listen to his history, and see what we can learn. Knowledge is POWER, Stay tuned for the next installment of air bleed tuning coming soon.
