On January 21, 2025, a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper assigned to the Criminal Interdiction Unit was patrolling the Miami-Dade County area when a Be On Look Out (BOLO) was issued for a black 2021 BMW X5, which had fled from the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office. The vehicle was observed traveling westbound on NW Street and struck the front right side of a Florida Highway Patrol vehicle, which was occupied by K-9 Axle. The vehicle then fled northbound on US 441. A pursuit was initiated and lasted approximately six minutes. During the pursuit, the driver operated the vehicle at high rates of speed, reaching 90 mph in residential areas and 130 mph on two-lane roads. The driver also drove off the roadway, ran multiple stop signs, and disregarded red lights. The vehicle eventually came to a stop at a residence in Miramar, Florida, where all three occupants exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The vehicle rolled back and struck a parked vehicle at the location. The three occupants were later identified as Diron Artravier Wadley (driver), Cristian Lee Rook (front passenger), and Tyjuan Shamani Jackson (rear right passenger). All were identified through their Florida ID cards. Mr. Wadley fled toward a nearby residence, entering the building without permission, where he was confronted before fleeing again to another nearby location. At this point, Mr. Wadley unlawfully entered yet another residence and continued fleeing on foot. He was later found inside a tool shed behind a residence along Alhambra Blvd, where he was located and apprehended. A Glock handgun was recovered from a trash can near a nearby street, where Mr. Wadley had discarded the weapon while fleeing. Mr. Jackson was apprehended by Trooper Joan Cantelar and, after a records check, was determined to be a convicted felon. Mr. Rook fled toward another nearby residence, where he entered the building with Mr. Wadley. After multiple attempts to make contact, Mr. Rook was removed from the residence and taken into custody.
