We spent an unforgettable weekend at the Evandale National Penny Farthing Championship in beautiful Evandale — and captured it in four original songs. From camping at the cricket grounds, meeting “The Red Baron,” and standing right on the start and finish line… to thrilling relay races, spectacular tumbles, incredible sportsmanship and the prestigious National Championship finals — this historic Tasmanian festival completely won us over. We watched riders carry, wheel and race their Penny Farthings, saw stunning vintage costumes, a marching pipe band, Morris dancers and classic cars in the main parade, and celebrated the champions Liz Wilmot and Simon Weir. We finished the weekend with dinner at the Prince of Wales Hotel, wandered the Evandale Markets, and witnessed the epic 40km ride to Clarendon Homestead. What a weekend. What a community.
