Brockville road salt shortage: City switches to sand mix

A province-wide shortage of road salt has forced the City of Brockville to start using a salt-sand mixture on its roads for the remainder of the winter. CTV’s Peter Szperling rides along with plow operator Derrick Empey to see the change in action. Supervisor of Public Works Yanick Beaudin explains that frequent snow events have depleted supplies faster than expected, a problem facing municipalities across Ontario, including Northumberland County and London. Drivers are being advised to expect snow-packed conditions rather than bare pavement.
