Glasgow, Scotland... why doesn't anyone talk about it? We’ve always heard about Edinburgh and the Scottish Highlands, but rarely Glasgow… so we’re here to find out if Scotland’s biggest city is actually worth visiting! In this Glasgow travel vlog, we explore Merchant City, try classic Scottish food for the first time (including haggis, Irn-Bru and a deep-fried Mars bar), and uncover the story behind the famous cone-headed statues. This is Part 1 of our Glasgow trip… let’s explore! First, we head to Merchant City to try and find the actual Merchant City… but it’s Monday and everything is shut! 😅 However, little did we know, Merchant City is much bigger than the area we first explored. After walking past all the closed restaurants and getting seriously hungry, we decided it was time to start ticking off the remainder of our Scotland bingo card… beginning with Irn-Bru, traditional haggis, and of course, the famous deep-fried Mars bar! We chose Droothies as our haggis spot, and even though it wasn’t on the menu, they kindly made it for us anyway! First up: Irn-Bru… definitely not what we expected. Then came the haggis and OMG… it was incredible. This might genuinely be one of our favourite Scottish foods. People say they don’t like this stuff?! It’s fantastic. But then we asked what’s actually in it… big mistake? 😅 Next door, we went on the hunt for a deep-fried Mars bar. We weren’t expecting much, we assumed it was just one for the tourists (which it probably is 😅), but it completely surprised us. It’s so good. Honestly, the only way to describe it… is exactly what it sounds like 😂 After that, we finally learned the story behind Glasgow’s famous “cone-head” statues, before heading to Buchanan Street to find our final souvenir… a Glasgow tote bag! We finished Part 1 at Glasgow Cathedral and the Necropolis, and safe to say, we’re really enjoying Glasgow so far! Have you visited Glasgow? What are your thoughts?
