Are you looking for ideas on how to prepare a complete, filling Kenyan meal for your family? In this video, I share how I prepare a simple but satisfying meal of soft chapati, sungura grain stew, and a quick vegetable stew — food that nourishes, stretches, and works well for everyday home cooking. This is not just one recipe. I walk you through: How I make chapatis (briefly) How I prepare sungura grain stew (the main recipe) A simple vegetable stew to complete the meal I also share practical kitchen and meal prep tips that help save time and energy in daily cooking. Sungura grains are a locally known dried legume, commonly referred to as cowpeas / kunde / thoroko / zimbindi in different regions. I cook them into a hearty stew that pairs beautifully with chapati and vegetables. I also share why I’m slowly shifting from only single-recipe videos to showing full meals — because cooking is not just about recipes, but about hospitality, planning, and feeding our families well. In this video, you’ll also find helpful tips on: Meal prepping and freezing grains in advance Defrosting pre-cooked grains Using multiple pans to reduce chapati cooking time Organizing your cooking so the meal comes together smoothly If you enjoy simple, budget-friendly Kenyan meals and practical home cooking, feel free to like, subscribe, and share this video with someone who may find it helpful.
