My absolute favorite section on the whole trail. After waiting a few days for a good weather window at Splash's house, we finally set out back to trail. Some of her family joined us as we climbed up to Mt. Jackson. The gray jays are so cool. Found a tentsite at Mitzpah Hut amongst the other 50 hikers. Splash, Sunflower and I woke up early to catch the sunrise at Mt. Pierce. What a better way to start your day than being naked on a mountain top. How exhilarating! We spent the morning climbing more high peaks, Mt. Eisenhower and Mt. Monroe. Caught some leftover eggs and pancakes at the Lake of the Clouds Hut before summiting Mt. Washington. My body felt super strong and soared passed all of the other day hikers. How breaktaking it is to be up here. We reached the summit of Mt. Washington under perfect condtions, however, there was a bike race happening. We waited in line for almost an hour to get our picture taken at the summit sign. On the descent, we mooned the cog railway. Oopsies. Crossed more high peaks, Mt. Jefferson and Mt. Adams. Splash pressed on to meet Kyle and Sunflower and I took the blue blaze. Checked out Madison Hut and climbd up and over Mt. Madison, overlooking the entire presidential range that we traversed that day. The descent down to Osgood Tentsite was exposed and extremely steep. My body wants to call it quits and 2 miles to go felt like another 10. Sunflower and I arrived in the dark and barely found an open spot to pitch my tent. I passed out in a matter of seconds. We made our way to Pinkham Notch where we got burgers as Trail Magic. Met more sobos, including Mom and Daughter duo, Lilo and Stitch. Sunny and I climbed up Wildcat. The steepest climb all trail. The lifty at the top wouldn't let me ride on the chairlift and I was butthurt about it. Last minute decided to camp at the top. Had a fire and dehydrated cheesecake for dinner. Woke up to the most gorgeous sunrise. Descended down to Carter Notch Hut where I met hiker Troubadour. He let me play his violin and just when I didn't know what to play, hut worker, Hope, requested Ashokan Farewell. The song that I played at my dad's celevbration of life. Just 4 days prior, it was the 4th year anniversary of his passing. That was such a special moment. Climbed over the Carters, crossing off more 4,000 footers. And Mt. Moriah being the final one in New Hampshire. Splash picked us up where we took a zero and met up with old trail friends! The White Mountains are pretty spectacular. I am very fortunate to have met Splash on this trail and for showing me around her backyard. Just 1 more state to go!!
