How should clinicians evaluate chronic cough (more than 4 weeks) in children using pediatric-specific algorithms—not adult pathways? In this session, Dr. Trang Din (Pediatric Pulmonology) outlines evidence-based approaches for triage, red-flag identification, baseline workup, asthma assessment, and management of common etiologies including Protracted Bacterial Bronchitis (PBB), asthma, upper airway disease, airway malacia, aspiration, and functional/tic cough. Moderated by Dr. Mimi Buu, this webinar is designed for primary care clinicians, pediatricians, family medicine providers, and allied health professionals. Session Objectives Apply pediatric-specific algorithms to differentiate nonspecific cough from red-flag conditions. Conduct first-line evaluation using CXR, spirometry, environmental assessment, and structured follow-up. Diagnose and manage asthma, including GINA-aligned therapy and avoidance of SABA-only regimens. Identify and treat isolated chronic wet cough as PBB and recognize indications for referral. Recognize when specialized evaluation is required for bronchiectasis, aspiration, airway malacia, or upper airway causes. Presenter Trang Dinh, MD – Pediatric Pulmonologist, Stanford Medicine.
