When it comes to evaluating good coffee, sometimes political correctness has to be left to one side. Thus is the situation, in my opinion, regarding Turkish coffee. The Turkish coffee that can be found on the East side of Jerusalem tends to be far better than that found in Jewish neighborhoods. Among the Palestinian coffee shops, Iziman's and Sandooqa are two of the best-known brands. Last year, Iziman's made the bold move of opening a store in the pluralistic First Station complex and has quickly won itself a diverse clientele. There, Turkish coffee is prepared using the sand method.
