The Dorset Hobby chick is 31 days old today and branched for the first time! It is amazing how quickly they grow up! Lil Hobby chick will spend some time wingercising on the rails going back and forth across the nest gaining more strength and confident for its big fledging day which is coming soon! We will probably see a fledge within a week. Notice the beautiful juvenile plumage that has grown in too! Thank you for watching! The adult male is the same male (he is ringed) but we think the female is a new bird as she doesn’t have the aberrant white feather on her head which has been present in previous years. We still don’t have a full ring number for the male but are fairly certain he was ringed as a chick by us in 2019 approx. 10km away. " Thank you for watching!
