Throat Chakra Yoga - Yoga Practice to Speak Your Truth - Yoga with Rachel

Welcome to your Throat Chakra Yoga Practice to Speak Your Truth. The throat chakra is the fifth chakra, situated above the heart chakra and below the third eye chakra. The throat chakra is the passageway of energy between the head and the lower parts of the body. The throat chakra is connected to the neck, throat, mouth, jaw, tongue, cervical plexus and thyroid gland. Have you ever been in a situation where you wanted to say something, but you decided not to out of fear of what others might think or say? Have you ever said something that you didn’t mean to say? Are there moments where you speak over people because you really want to get your thoughts out? Do you often feel anxious at the thought of speaking to others? These are all examples of an unbalanced throat chakra. The throat chakra can become blocked or overactive. Typically fear drives this imbalance; whether it is the fear of being heard or not having a voice. It can sometimes feel unsafe in our body to share our thoughts and feelings with others. At the same time, it can feel like we don’t matter if we don’t get the last word in. How do you know for sure if your throat chakra is unbalanced? Well, there are some physical signs that can point towards an imbalance. Physical signs like, recurring sore throats, sinus infections, ear infections, jaw tension, as well as neck, upper back and shoulder tension. These physical messages from the body alert us to imbalances. To address the imbalance, it’s imperative to address the underlying emotion or emotions. This process can take time. Practices that can help open your throat chakra are super helpful for releasing the emotions that may be holding you back from speaking your truth. An open and balanced throat chakra allows you to express your thoughts, ideas, opinions and feelings with clarity, integrity, authenticity, confidence and compassion for self and others. An open and balanced throat chakra helps you become a more attentive and active listener. Balancing your throat chakra can help deepen your relationship with yourself, and can help create healthier relationships with others. In today’s yoga class, we explore yoga poses, movements and breathwork practices that offer nourishment to the throat chakra. I invite you to wear blue today! The color blue represents the throat chakra. The blue is there to remind you that you have something to say. You have a voice. Your words matter. You matter.
