CLASSIC CP EMD Consist on GNG-28 - CHASING THE MANITOBAN SUN - 02/17/2024

02/17/2024 - When work train equipment for the railways need relocation, you never know what you're gonna get. It can be anything from run-of-the-mill GEVOs, to a quadruple of retro EMDs... In today's case, CPKC GNG-28 from Schreiber, ON bound for multiple areas across British Columbia, consisted of 3 SD40-2s and a SD60, with CP 6028 leading the charge. Me and a friend of mine were all over it, from watching it depart Winnipeg across the empty prairies through hamlets like Rosser and Poplar Point, through the small city of Portage La Prairie, continuing through prairies and reaching forests and valleys until reaching Brandon, where a crew change and servicing would commence, before getting back on the road and continuing into the Great Plains. This has been the longest 'chase' of a train I have even been on, starting in Winnipeg and ending in Hargrave, which is just over 300km, crazy, huh?
