In this episode of Vet in a Van, we kick things off at a stunning free camp on the banks of Lake Mackintosh, surrounded by epic Tasmanian wilderness. 🌿🏕️ We only had one night here before hitting the road towards the West Coast town of Strahan. Highlights: ✅ Zeehan Museum & Information Centre – A hidden gem! This museum offers a fascinating look into the town’s rich mining history and is well worth a stop. 🏛️ ✅ Macquarie Heads Camping Ground – One of our favorite off-grid camps so far! $30 per night with beachfront access, rubbish disposal & a dump point. 🌊🏕️ ✅ Exploring Strahan – This charming coastal town stole our hearts! We had amazing burgers at Tracks on Point 🍔 and experienced Australia’s longest-running play, The Ship That Never Was. This must-see pantomime tells the hilarious true story of the last great escape from Sarah Island—absolutely worth it! 🎭 ✅ Gordon River Cruise – We chose World Heritage Cruises, a family-owned operator with over 125 years of history. The full-day cruise through Macquarie Harbour & the UNESCO-listed Gordon River was breathtaking! 🚢🌿 ✅ Hogarth Falls – A short, scenic walk to a beautiful waterfall—the perfect way to end our time in Strahan before continuing our Tasmanian adventure! 🌊🌲
