As in the previous episodes, I do a 160 tkm service for my BMW F20 car Diagnosis & maintenance BMW F20 116 2013 engine N13 (N13B16) 00:00 Intro 00:14 How about old timing chain and compare with new one Remove chain from guide rails Let’s take a closer look at the condition and compare how much the old chain has stretched The guide rail has cracked at one point Guide rails connection point is really loose Chain sprocket Compare the old chain vs. new chain The timing chain and guide rails back together 02:02 Install new timing chain Install hub on crankshaft 04:23 Install camshaft adjusters Position adjuster to camshafts Screw in camshafts central bolts and release again by 90° Screw special tool 119340 into the cylinder head Pre-tension timing chain with special tool 009460 Tighten camshaft central bolts 07:51 Install hub and MAIN bolt Find a suitable position for special tool 119280 tightening central bolt 09:10 Remove timing tools 09:53 Check timing 10:55 Test elongation of NEW timing chain with a special tool 2353281 (117200) Engine N13: Screw in special tool WITHOUT shim New chain tensioner 12:32 Install vibration damper, drive belt, water pump drive wheel and friction gear 14:09 Install cylinder head cover Spark plugs and clean all sealing surfaces for valve cover Clean cylinder head cover and replace all gaskets Camshaft sensors Seal all edges and contact points on the cylinder head Loctite SI 5970 sealing compound Detach ground cable at screw connection. Secure bolts for cylinder head cover in the sequence 1 to 12 19:59 Install DME holder DME control unit 21:21 Replace clean air pipe for turbo charger tank ventilation and engine ventilation lines 22:51 Start engine after timing chain replace 24:12 Filling cooling system without vacuum filling unit 26:27 Oil service new oil and oil filter Do not exceed upper marking of oil dipstick Excessively filled oil is causes damage to the engine. 28:45 All back in place sound insulation of the upper part of the bulkhead trailing link on spring strut dome 31:02 Test drive and check oil level via oil dipstick Read fault codes Let’s continue with the next episode!
