Bicycling Wisconsin's Ahnapee State Trail (August 24, 2023) Remote and Beautiful

For years Julie has wanted me to go to Door County Wisconsin. This last August we spent four nights in Ephraim and really enjoyed the picturesque setting of the towns and amazing food. Of course, we ventured out on our bicycles for some fun adventures. Our last ride of the trip before heading back to Minnesota was the Ahnapee State Trail starting at its northern trailhead just outside Sturgeon Bay and riding to Algoma on Lake Michigan. It is really the only bike trail in Door County and it is beautiful and remote. A surprise is that you do not need a Wisconsin trail pass to ride this trail! You can continue beyond Algoma to Luxemburg and then down to Kewaunee for a 50-mile one-way ride if you desire.
