This rare antique folding chair arrived in my workshop completely rusted, with broken joints, rotted seat boards, and missing upholstery. Every piece needed care and craftsmanship to restore its former beauty. I replaced the damaged seat panels with solid oak wood, reupholstered it using traditional horsehair padding and fine goatskin leather, and restored the fittings through hot bluing to preserve the authentic patina. Upholstery was new to me, as this was my first project doing upholstery. The entire metal frame was sandblasted, double-primed, and powder-coated in a rich, deep green that matches the original finish. This antique chair restoration combines traditional techniques and modern materials while keeping the soul of the piece intact.
