The Cats Whisker Cormorant is a modern Mini or Competiton Lure originally tied by Lindsay Simpson (See Link Below) to act as an attractor pattern on the top dropper of a team of flies. According to the original tyer, this allows the fish to come over and have a look at the other patterns further down the cast. I can see this method working well on Commercial Trout Fisheries that have a few "survivors" who have seen a few winters and therefore flies, but will still take the freshly stocked fish. Try tying your favourite Buzzer pattern on a straight shanked hook and tie in a marabou wing and you have a Cormorant. As suggested by Mr Simpson fish it as part of a team of 3 flies in the top dropper position on a Floating Line with a leader length of between 9ft and 18ft depending on the depth of the venue and what you can handle in the cast. I would suggest an indicator but the purist would prefer not to use one. In any case, the takes are reportedly quite aggressive with this pattern.
