A Modern Lure Pattern utilizing synthetic rubber materials similar to or the same as FlexiFloss and Painted or Gold Beads for sinking weight. Another example of a material you could use to tie the legs is a light Pole Fishing Elastic. In this example I'm using a discontinued product from Lureflash called "Life Like Rubber Legs", that is still available to order if you are quick, from Glasgow Angling Centre. Its very cheap to clear. The fly can be tied in a variety of colours, with the usual suspects being effective. Hot Orange, Black and Chartreuse, White and Chartreuse, Red, Olive and Brown. Weight can be varied to suit your fishing style or venue. The fly can also be tied on hooks from a size 8 down to a size 12. Any smaller and I think the bulk of the elastic might beat you. The fly has alot going on in terms of vibration and the fish will literally feel it going past it along its lateral line. Some lures are designed to be visually appealing and some are designed to create a disturbance. This fly pattern does a bit of both and this may be why its a favourite on Commercial Trout Fisheries. Try to have at least 3 or 4 variants in your Lure Box. Fish with one of the variants, varying depth and retrieve. If there are no plucks, pulls, bites or hook-ups, then change the colour. Repeat until you make contact with a fish. Line choice is not important, it can be fished on Floating, Intermediate and Sinking lines. Choose a line appropriate to the perceived feeding depth of the fish or appropriate for the venue. A Fast Intermediate is a good starting choice. The fly can also be fished dead drift to represent a drowned Crane Fly, in a ripple, under an indicator or on the point of a team of 2 or 3 flies. I recommend having Buzzers as droppers.
