This video tells the story behind a song I wrote back in March 1985. Skip to 3:20, if you just want to hear the song. This is song inspired by some of the inaction and "selfish" attitudes I saw around me during some tumultuous times during the mid-1980's. The lyrics were a call to action based on my sense of social justice for the inequities at the time. (In many ways this song is just as relevant today in 2023 as it was in 1985) I'm playing my Takamine 6 string on this song and for the production, I added vocal harmony in the verses and chorus. I added a guitar solo during the instrumental break, played a simple bass part and programmed the drum track in LogicPro I hope you enjoy the song and the story behind it. Does Anyone Care? © 1985 R. Andrew Hunt Can you just sit back and not even care People are suffering all over the world But you don’t give a damn ‘cause you’re doing fine Your selfish attitudes are making you blind Does anyone even care? Does anyone remember how? Would anyone even dare To get their eyes off themselves? There was a time not too long ago When people really cared, and some risked their lives They cared for others and saw beyond themselves Now it’s your turn to take a stand Does anyone even care? Does anyone remember how? Would anyone even dare To get their eyes off themselves? It’s time to start caring, it’s time to start daring Take a look around you. Someone needs help Lend your heart to them if nothing else When someone’s suffering, don’t turn your back Does anyone even care? Does anyone remember how? Would anyone even dare To get their eyes off themselves?
