You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. 7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.” 8 And they went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had seized them, and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid. 9 Now when he rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons. 12 After these things he (Jesus) appeared in another form to two of them, as they were walking into the country. (ESV) [Angels Long to Look in] 천사도 흠모 By believing in Jesus, God raises us from our physical death in the same way as Jesus’ resurrection. The question is how we can enjoy this dogma in our struggling life. People did not expect the resurrection. 5, 8 The women who were to embalm Jesus’ dead body did not expect Jesus to be raised. 1) They experienced the Greek “pobeo” or fear (8) by the angel’s preaching about the resurrection and the cross. Today, instead of inciting such fear, the human preachers can make people doze off when speaking on the resurrection. The angel did expect the resurrection. 5 In verse 5 the Greek ‘neaniscos’, or ‘the youth’ is used to describe the angels as they are eternally young and never experience decay and death. 2) That’s why they really desire to look into the death and mysterious resurrection of the Son of God. (1 Peter 1:12) We can expect it by Jesus’ word. 1, 7, 12 Mary Magdalene (1, 9, Luke 7:36-50, 8:2), Peter (7, 14:66-72, Matthew 26: 69- 75, Luke 22:56-62, John 18:15-18, 25-27) and two disciples (12, Luke 24:13-35 were met with Jesus personally and shown the power of resurrection. 3) In short one of Jesus’ powerful preaching is; ‘For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If in Christ we have hope [b] in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.’ (1 Corinthians 15: 16-19) By Woo Gu-Hyun --------------------------------------- 1) Alan Cole, Mark, eds.
