Doula Joy King on the State of Midwifery Today panel

Joy King is passionate about spreading the word of the incredible birthing ability of the human body, and longs to see society educated as a whole around this spiritual, sacred and powerful event. She views birth as a passage into empowered womanhood and femininity and longs for the day women of every age, culture and ethnicity is armed with trust in their innate birthing power. A Shiatsu massage therapist, she also dabbles in herbs and essential oils and is drawn to all things natural and organic and attempts to incorporate this worldview in her dealings with clients, friends and family, emphasising surrender to the flow of life. Joy has three daughters who were all born in the comfort and peace of their own home with only their father, midwife and (in the case of her youngest) a doula in attendance.
