All credits for the videography at Udupi station go to Preeti Agrawal. Thank you for allowing me to use it, Preeti! Follow me on Instagram: / lowerquadrant The west coast. Quite frankly the best coast. And one that nobody can ever get enough of. Even the most random village in Dakshina Kannada district is about as picturesque as can be. And the train journey from Bengaluru to Udupi, via Mysuru and Mangaluru, passed through all of these quaint localities. An absolute feast for the eyes. The journey began at the ultramodern SMVT Bengaluru railway station, and we crawled through Bengaluru's suburbs as though we didn't even wanna leave the city. The train leisurely cruised to Mysuru, reversed once there and once again at Hassan. Of course, we passengers were fast asleep and didn't even notice. The plan was to wake up at Sakaleshpura to cover the beautiful western ghats. But the gentle rocking of the train meant that I only woke up near Kabaka Puttur, and even then, the scenery outside was absolutely worth marvelling at from the door. We crawled through Mangaluru Junction and reached Central, where we had an extended breakfast halt while our train geared up for one last reversal. We departed with only a slight delay though, as the Konkan Railway beckoned. Multiple tunnels, bridges and rivers were crossed. We stayed glued to the door, even though our AC coach was almost empty and it was super hot outside. Nobody would want to miss these visuals. Eventually we reached Udupi, and in the frenzy to retrieve our luggage, I forgot that I was documenting this journey. Thanks to Preeti once again for swooping in to save the day, so I could at least end with a clip from Udupi station, for what it's worth. And that's how one of our most memorable train journeys went! Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
