Two Portland police officers shot, search for shooter underway

Someone shot and wounded two Portland police officers Monday night in the Lloyd District of Northeast Portland, prompting a massive police response as officers searched for the shooter. Police said the two officers were in stable condition at a hospital. Police were called just after 8 p.m. to an area at Northeast 17th Avenue and Clackamas Street to investigate a threat with a knife. Upon arriving, two officers were struck by gunfire. Police declined to say late Monday night whether any officers fired their weapons. Police descended on the area to search for the shooter, blocking off a large area and closing roads. Nearly 90 police units responded, and Police Chief Bob Day said every available resource the bureau had available went to the scene. The search for the shooter was still underway late Monday night. Police had not released any information about that person.
