Joe has a hobby, metal engraving and he has enlisted in a sense into the Watch Technology Institute in Seattle Washington. Lance receives a great American made vise and vise mounting plate with a blanchard ground work base for the finial finishing and assembly fit work space area. Patrick reassembles a Bodine Electric Company motor, adding a longer 5 lead wire bundle and wires it to the Levin lathe mounted on a maple top permanent workbench. Patrick installs the Bodine motor onto the maple table top, wires the motor to both the Levin motor controller panel and the foot pedal as well as to the dedicated Levin high bench table. On the permanent home to a Louis Levin & Son Instrument bed length lathe, he installs a Levin Heavy duty Cross Slide and mounts a QCTP Tool Post to it. He also installs a 3/16 HHS shop ground cutter into the QCTP Holder, inserts a piece of C360 brass 3/16th diameter material into a 10mm collet in the lathe chuck and then he makes a few cutting passes. We capture all of these first cuts on film so we could share this experience with our viewers. This series follows the adventures of two childhood friends as they rebuild vintage precision micro-machines and tools that will allow them the ability to make their own designed product into a reality but only after they stopped doing work for others on these same machines, with these same precision tools for the past several decades.
