I made an album using 90s recording methods on an 8-track cassette recorder. Here's a behind-the-scenes breakdown of how I mixed one of the songs from the album, completely DAWless, with no undo. - - - - - - - - - - - As part of the Jamaraz Music Universe, I created a fictional indie rock band set in the early 90s called Glinter. To make sure the music I made for this project was authentic, I decided to record their debut album entirely on an analogue format, in this case, my 8-track cassette recorder. This analogue method of recording has many limitations compared to the wonders of modern digital recording, but I still found I could make a song sound great with just 8 tracks! In this video, you'll see me break down a song called 'All Dressed Up', and I'll briefly show you my process for mixing songs on tape. The debut GLINTER album 'NOWHERE LIKE ALWAYS' is out on MARCH 7th 2026. - - - - - - - - - - - 🔊 Listen to my other music... https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5x4... 🎸 Listen to unreleased songs of mine and support me! / rickyjamaraz 📨 Join my mailing list for updates & discounts on merch https://www.rickyjamaraz.com/email-si... - - - - - - - - - - - 00:00 - Intro 00:36 - What's On Each Track? 01:48 - Limitations of Analogue Recording 03:15 - Mixing the Song 05:59 - Song Showcase 06:47 - Final Thoughts #indierock #musicproduction #cassetteculture
