37s and friends: SRPS Capital Highlander and stock moves. Carlisle and Mossband 07, 08, 09 February 25 We start at Carlisle station on Friday 7th February where, among the regular passenger and freight trains, we find a Rail Operations Group Class 37 has spent the night in High Wapping Sidings. It is moved to platform 1 before heading south to Derby. We see the first of the SRPS / LSL stock moves when a pair of 37s brings the stock for the next day's Capital Highlander charter starting in Carlisle for Inverness. On Saturday 8th we are at Carlisle station before daybreak. We see the stock for the Capital Highlander brought into Platform 1 and then depart for its eventful journey to Inverness. The train had to be diverted via the Forth Bridge to Perth when an earlier freight train broke down near Stirling. The return was more straightforward with an early return into Carlisle. The stock is moved to LSL's Upperby depot for the night. On Sunday 9th we start at Mossband, to the north of Carlisle and just south of the Scottish border. Beside the pendolinos, 397s and 156s we see two engineer's trains working from the East Kilbride branch electrification works and Busby Junction to Carlisle Yard. We see the SRPS stock again being taken back to the Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway. Later, after dark, at a much quieter Carlisle station a lone class 37 returns to LSL's Upperby depot.
