Everybody loves a good ribeye but is an American Wagyu worth the cost vs a nice prime steak? The American Wagyu (a cross of Japanese Wagyu cattle and Angus) was a bit more tender, a bit juicier, and had a smoother mouth feel but there was absolutely nothing wrong with the prime ribeye. The American Wagyu steak was $85 and the Prime ribeye was $51 so there is a decent price difference. I can't really tell you if it is worth the extra $35 or not but I can tell you the American Wagyu steak was better overall. I would have no problem eating the Prime ribeye 7 days a week but if I had a special occasion or wanted a REALLY good steak I would spend the extra money. I have had some great pieces of meat from Snake River Farms over the years and these steaks were no exception. Top notch quality and the SRF customer service team stands behind their products. If you have any issues, if the product doesn't come frozen, if there are delays in shipping, or whatever just reach out and they should either replace the product or give you some store credit.
