This video presents the bells h♭0- d1- f1- g1- h♭1' [si♭2 -re3 -fa4 -sol3 -si♭3] of St Elisabeth church in Albstadt - Tailfingen, southern Germany. ➥ At the beginning of the 20th century, a makeshift church was built for the growing Catholic population in Tailfingen. This received its first bells in the 1920s. The iron bells were purchased in 1922 [III]; 1925 [II] and 1923 [I] and also transferred to the new built parish church. This peal rang until the end of the 1990s. Due to problems with the system and the unsatisfactory sound characteristics, it was subsequently decided to replace the bells during the upcoming tower renovation. Five new bells were ordered from the Bachert bell foundry in Heilbronn to replace the three iron bells. This company produced one of its last large peals at the Heilbronn site with a strongly progressive shape, based on a large bell with a light shape. The bell is one of the largest Catholic peals in the region. Dominated in sound by the concrete acoustics of the tower hall, the peal of St Elisabeth's is sonorous, with the ‘grumpy’ large bell forming an interesting counterpoint to the very typical sounding smaller bells of the peal. The three iron bells of the former peal are now on display in the town centre of Tailfingen as small sights.
