This is the first of what may become weekly installments of Jewish Mindfulness Meditations led by Meira Warshauer. The video begins with Meira's focus for mediation and how it relates to Jewish practice or themes of the season, and includes brief meditation instructions. Thirty minutes of silent mediation follows, then Meira offers some concluding thoughts and observations. Today's focus is JOY and the fall festival of Sukkot. During Sukkot (Festival of Tabernacles, and our other weeklong holiday, Passover), we have a special greeting for the intermediate days or chol ha mo-ed, when we can do "work" like shopping for the holiday, driving to visit friends, and other necessary activities. The greeting is "moadim l'simcha" or "times of joy," and the response is "chagim u'zmanim l'sasson" or "festivals and times of rejoicing." I think you get the picture. It's all about JOY. (And especially this year as we feel the momentum towards the hostages' return and lasting ceasefire.) In our meditation today, we cultivate joy, breathing in simcha and breathing out sasson, and remember to smile while breathing. With love, joy, and blessings for Shabbat Shalom and Moadim l'simcha, Meira 10-10-25
