Transition to spring is underway, with a lovely combination of daylight increasing rapidly and temperatures rising above normal. February this year has daytime average temperatures 10.6°C and at night time 5.4°C, with only one frost. Rainfall is 100 mm or 9 inches. The long term average figures are 8.5°C and 1.4°C by night, with 68mm rain and 10 frosts. Thanks to no dig there are few weeds, and we do a little weeding if any appear. That's important so that beds are ready for new seeds and plants, with slug numbers kept low. All beds are mulched with 2–3cm compost, paths with 2 cm woodchip of less than 12 mm diameter.
