Learn about the proposal for the Ankaran Program for the Promotion of Indigenous Medicine, carried out by the Amazon Conservation Team – Brazil (ACT-Brazil), in partnership with the Association of the Tiriyó, Kaxuyana and Txikiyana Indigenous Peoples (APITIKATXI), an organization representing the peoples of the region. Its purpose is to incentivize and value the indigenous medicine practices of the peoples living on the western side of the Tumucumaque Indigenous Park – located between the states of Amapá and Pará and near Brazil's border with Suriname. The video features images and testimonies captured during the inauguration of the Kapai and Aretina Knowledge Guardians Center in Urunai village, in October 2024. This space is already operational and hosts initiatives for training, exchanges, and other activities that promote the practices, knowledge, and specialists in indigenous medicines of these peoples. This video was produced by Oitava Arte Produtora. Read more about Ankarani program at Wanaki Magazine (in portuguese) at the link: https://bit.ly/RevistaWanakiACTBrasil.
