Activities associated with Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace on 10 December 2025. The New Guard was shown on the schedules as being from Balaklava Company 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, and the Old Guard was shown as being from 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards. The musical support was shown on the schedules as provided by the Band of the Grenadier Guards and the Pipes of Number 12 Company Irish Guards. However, when I first got near to Wellington Barracks I could hear a Corps of Drums playing, and they then provided one half of the musical support. I believe that they were 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards Corps of Drums. This rather "threw me" for the remainder of the visit, so I didn't have any plan and was just reacting to what I saw and heard, resulting in the video being rather a "hotchpotch". The morning started off sunny but cold, but clouds became more threatening as the morning wore on. Luckily it stayed dry during the time I was there, but it was quite breezy (wind can affect the recorded sound). The crowds made getting quickly from one location to another, and trying to film, quite a challenge. 00:00 The Corps of Drums, having left Wellington Barracks, marching up Spur Road, in front of Buckingham Palace and past the Victoria Memorial on their way to St James Palace to meet the Old Guard contingent there. 00:46 A general view of Friary Court (at St James Palace) from Marlborough Road. I had intended to film the Corps of Drums playing there as they started their march back to Buckingham Palace, but I had suddenly heard another band in the distance at Wellington Barracks, so I decided to rush back there to find out what was going on. 01:21 3 short clips, filmed through the fence, of the Band of the Grenadier Guards playing music on the Parade Ground at Wellington Barracks. This was the first I knew for sure that the band would be appearing and the bagpipes wouldn't be appearing. Again, I had to break away from this, because I hoped to catch the Corps of Drums playing on their march to Buckingham Palace. 05:07 The Corps of Drums, leading the Old Guard, marching westwards along The Mall towards Buckingham Palace. I believe the music is "Galanthia" but happy to be corrected if wrong. 06:17 The Band of the Grenadier Guards, leading the New Guard, leaving Wellington Barracks and marching up Spur Road to Buckingham Palace, playing "Wellington" (Wilhelm Zehle) and then "Action Front!" ("Klar zum Gefecht!") (Blankenburg). 10:15 The Band of the Grenadier Guards, leading the Old Guard, marching back to Wellington Barracks, playing "The British Grenadiers" before they come into sight, and then "Arromanches" (Kelly), and finally "The Grenadiers Return". 14:09 Filmed through the fence at Wellington Barracks, the Band of the Grenadier Guards, still playing "The Grenadiers Return" on the Parade Ground as the Old Guard march into position for dismissal. 14:50 3 more short clips, filmed through the fence at Wellington Barracks, of the Parade Ground, including the Band of the Grenadier Guards, and the Old Guard being dismissed and leaving the Parade Ground. Unfortunately I didn't get the bugler in the picture. 17:58 The Corps of Drums marching back past the Victoria Memorial and Buckingham Palace into Spur Road, with the 4-legged mascot of the New Guard behind them, on their way back to Wellington Barracks.
