Welcome to the Library of Things Toolkit videos! This self-paced course will help you plan, start, and grow a Library of Things in your community. Most libraries of things rely heavily on volunteers to provide library staffing, repair items, raise funds, and lead the organization. It really does take a village! Volunteers can contribute an amazing amount, but having a successful volunteer program takes planning, intention, and work. This chapter, “Q&A,” covers questions asked during the live Q&A session, including questions about the number of board and committee members, academic credit and internships for students, sharing power, sharing volunteer management responsibilities, political education in onboarding, and working through problems with volunteers. The videos in this series were recorded during Shareable's Library of Things Co-Lab—between March and May 2024 and have been edited into chapters. Be sure to check out https://www.shareable.net/library-of-... for a comprehensive written digital toolkit, full-color PDF, and printer-friendly version with resources and templates for each section. While these videos were designed to supplement the written material they are comprehensive and cover what you need to know to create a LoT in your community!
