A forward fold is a forward tilt of your pelvis meaning your hip bones rotate and tip slightly forward and down." A forward fold also combines flexibility and range of motion in your hamstrings. Forward folds like this help to calm the nervous system by folding into the self and creating a safe space. It also stretches the back of the body, creating space for deeper, calming breaths. Forward bends can be very useful for the lower back, as long as we control the relationship between the pelvis and the spine when we attempt them.
