Why did Jesus speak in parables? My question to you today, Are you a Christian? How do you define a Christian? What makes you a Christian? Please answer those questions in the comments below! The subject of today is why Jesus spoke in parables? What is parable? A parable is figurative speeches including stories, proverbs, and riddles that aim to cover spiritual truths and ways to teach a lesson. I want to invite you to read the word of God by opening the Book of Matthew 13-1-11 The Parable of the Sower 13 That same day, Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. 2 Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore. 3 Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. 4 As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5 Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly because the soil was shallow. 6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. 7 Other seeds fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. 9 Whoever has ears, let them hear.” 10 The disciples came to him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?” 11 He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. And then Jesus said in Matthew 13:12-14 12 Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have, will be taken from them. 13 This is why I speak to them in parables: “Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand. (So that they don’t have access to the blessing and entrance to the kingdom of heaven) 14 In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: “‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving. Jesus said 9. Whoever has ears, let them hear.” Remember that God struck Saul, who became apostle Paul with blindness because he was persecuting Christians? In the Book of 2 Kings, the prophet Elisha struck a group of Syrian soldiers blind when they tried to capture him In Acts 13, the sorcerer Elymas was struck blind and had to be led away by the hand, indicating a powerful encounter with God's hand Spiritual blindness: Blindness in the Bible often symbolizes spiritual ignorance and the inability to perceive the truth of God's word. Jesus himself spoke of spiritual blindness, as seen in the Gospel of John. Now my question to you as Christian have you ever read the whole bible from cover to cover? To set yourself from spiritual blindness? If not, how do you know what is expected of you? Around the Pharisees and Sadducees and unbelievers, Jesus spoke in parables, but around his disciples and true followers, he translated the parables. Matthew 16:5-12 You might be missing blessings and deliverance because you fail to do what the word of God told you to do! Example: Jesus had an assignment on earth: To deliver those who were captive Isaiah 42:1-3, Jeremiah 23:5–6, Isaiah 52:13-53:12 Jesus did exactly what God told him to do, what the prophets said he would do. He worshiped God Elohim, delivered the captive, fed the poor, spread the word of God, died to save humanity, work as a carpenter, and ultimately, he said to his disciples “ FOLLOW ME” Moses did the same. God spoke to him and told Moses, lead my people through the desert, and bring them through the promised land. God also spoke to Prophet Elijah and King David, and others. God told prophet Elijah deliver my people from Jezebel, that evil woman, the Prophetess of Baal who is killing my prophets. Galatians 5:16-26 16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other so that you are not to do whatever[c] you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. Against such things, there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26. Let us not become conceited, provoking, and envying each other.
